Hello My Name Is...

Mrs. Hammerschmidt

Mrs Hammerschmidt

Hello!

Welcome to Kindergarten at Acres Green Elementary!  My name is Mrs. Hammerschmidt and I am so excited to meet you.  I will be your Kindergarten teacher this school year.   I already know that you are a reader, writer, scientist, mathematician, and a really good friend to others.  I can’t wait to watch you show me those skills and grow into an expert learner.

I have been teaching Kindergarten at AGE for 10 years and before that I was a 3rd grade teacher here.  Over the course of my teaching career, I have taught preschool - 8th grade, with the exception of 1st and 5th...maybe someday!  I live in Highlands Ranch with my husband, Jamie and we have 2 children.  Jordan is 21 years old and attends college at Arizona State University. Hunter is 18 years old and attends college at Colorado State University. I also have a Border Collie pup named, Cody.  He is 3… what do you know about dogs?

I hope that you are just as excited as I am to meet you.  In Kindergarten we will read many books, write lots of stories, figure out how things work and move. We will put things together and take things apart and we will count forwards and backwards, color and paint, make new friends and so many other fun activities.  We will go to the gym for Fitness and P.E. and we will also go to Art and Music.  I wanted to give you some things to think about over the summer to get ready for Kindergarten, so who better to ask than former expert Kindergartners!  The following is some advice they chose to pass along to you:

*Try to learn to tie your shoes

*Be kind to others

*Practice writing your name

*Be able to button, snap, and zip

*Click marker caps onto markers

*Remember that goldfish don’t like to be pet

*It’s ok to mix playdough colors together

*Learn your numbers

*Learn your letters

*Look forward to recess time :-)

*Read lots of books

*Practice using scissors

*Practice using glue

*Try mixing paint colors to see what the new color would be

*Have fun in school because it’s fun!

See you soon!
